1439 18th St. Santa Monica, CA Apartments

1439 West 18th St. in Santa Monica was a project brought to us by a close friend, who's 1970's spanish stucco apartment complex was in desperate need of modern renovations inside and out. We first started with some drawings and ideas we thought could help bring this building in an up-scale neighborhood into the 21st century incorporating modern looks and energy efficient materials. This building features a low water use garden and drip system, recycled ground cover and waterless faux grass. we removed all of the high-voltage lighting and replaced with low voltage lighting decreasing the house water and power by 50%. Inside we converted all of the gas fireplaces into decorative candle fireplace's. All of the appliances were replaced with Energy Star appliances as well as all of the lighting was replaced with low voltage lighting on dimmers, significantly reducing the energy use. All of the single payne windows were replaced with dual payne retrofit windows. This project was designed and constructed by Atlas Construction and remains a timeless landmark on 18th St. attracting a new breed of tenants and admirers.
